I don't know about you, but the way I see things Gameloft is becoming more and more EA-like. They have a number of well selling titles and they do whatever they can to milk every penny out of it. The first New York nights was a good game. It was THE sim game on a mobile (The Sims mobile is nowhere near this title IMO). Miami nights was even better- more options, bigger world etc... and from this moment everything went downhill more or less. The graphics kept evolving (and not always for good I must add) but the gameplay just froze in time and even started regressing. If you've played American Popstar: Road to Celebrity you knows what I mean- the game was so linear and prescripted that it was basically a movie. On top of that there were options in the menu, that were used only once (the time they were actually shown to you) and useless stats- the popularity stat was absolutely redundant past the first stage of the game... Basically the game was so lame I couldn't believe it is so popular between the critics...
The good news is the New York nights 2 is better than that. The bad news is it still sucks. Not that it is bad as such but it doesn't bring anything new on the table (except a new graphic style which frankly is not very impressively implemented). If you've never played a game of the series- it's a great fun, but if you had- well you'll probably get really bored, really fast if you're not some hardcore fan of the Gameloft's sim games (which is really sad considering how poor they've become).
Graphic and sound 7/10
Gameplay 5/10*
Value for money 4/10*
Novelty 2/10*
Total 5/10*
The bottom line - Just another "Nights" game. You can add +2 on marked stats if you're a great fan of the series
